Some Information about Recycling
In September of 2012 Beacon Falls First Slectman, Gerard Smith.wrote : "For the past year, Beacon Falls has been part of “single stream recycling.” I encourage every household to purchase a large trash receptacle, label it “Recycling” and place ALL numbered plastic (not just 1&2), paper and cardboard, broken down into manageable pieces, in this separate container. The town pays for all items placed in your trash container by the ton, but we are reimbursed for the recyclables. If every household separates trash and recycling, reducing the one and increasing the other, it will result in substantial savings."
Used Printer/Toner cartridges accepted at the Library :
The Friends of the Beacon Falls Public Library are sponsoring a recycling drive of empty or non-usable inkjet printer and toner cartridges. Bring them to the library in carefully sealed Ziploc bags and the Friends will redeem the cartridges for cash to help the library. Support the Friends, Help the environment! Please click here to see which cartridges are accepted by our company.
They have ALREADY cashed in over $600 to be used toward computer-related equipment at the library and are looking to earn more. They HAVE recently purchased an LCD projector and SCREEN for the library using these and other funds.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection offers information on recycling just about anything (including SIX different types of batteries).
