Storm Drain Marker Program - Protecting Our Waterways
Storm Water Management

In 2009 the Conservation Commission took on the Storm Drain Marker Program from CT DEP. The program educate's the public on storm water pollution, and is designed to help protect our waterways. Under the direction of then, commission member Joseph Mylen a team of dedicated volunteers answered the call.

The scope of this project included marking approximately 874 storm water drains. To meet this challenge Joe divided up the neighborhoods and actively solicited volunteers. The Storm Drain Marker Program is now complete.

The commission recognizes and thanks the volunteers who participated by placing markers on storm drains including Boy Scouts Troop #104, Tanya Guttierro and Laurie Mylen. Patrick O’Dell earned his Eagle Scout rank as he led his fellow troop members (pictured above) to install over 800 markers!
