Upcoming Road Projects

For 2022-2023, the Town of Beacon Falls will complete the following large-scale road projects.  An approximate timeline and scope are included:

UPCOMING:

  • Beacon Valley Road (East side) - Summer 2023
    • Scope:  Drainage improvements and road reconstruction
    • Timeline: The project was bid on in April 2023
    • Funding:  $2M LOTCIP Grant and bonded funds.
  • Burton Road Retaining Wall - Summer 2022 through Spring 2023
    • Scope:  Sewer and water replacement on the lower part of Burton, rebuilding retaining wall, sidewalk construction to Highland Avenue, improvements to road layout for safety
    • Timeline:  Water line replaced by Aquarion in July/August 2022, Sewer line being replaced August/September 2022, and then the wall reconstruction will be bid in Fall 2022.  Work will not begin until the Spring of 2023.
    • Funding:  $3M LOTCIP Grant and bonded funds.
  • Beacon Valley Bridge - Summer 2023
    • Scope:  Rebuilding of Beacon Valley Bridge - Project is share 50/50 with Naugatuck
    • Timeline: The project was bid on in April 2023
    • Funding:  LOCIB Grant and bonded funds.
  • Patricia, Dolly Drive & Coventry - Summer & Fall 2022
    • Scope:  Drainage and road reconstruction on Patricia & Dolly, Paving on Coventry.
    • Timeline:  Project was bid in July 2022, and work will begin in August/September 2022 and continue through the Fall.
    • Funding:  ARPA and Bonded Funds
  • Main Street Connectivity - Summer & Fall 2023
    • Scope:  Sidewalks and Main Street right of way improvements
    • Timeline:  TBD
    • Funding:  $600,000 Connectivity Grant and Bonded Funds

COMPLETED

  • Cook Lane and Diana Lane - Fall 2021 through Summer 2022
    • Scope:  Improvements to drainage and repaving.
    • Timeline:  Paving work will be completed in July/August 2022
    • Funding:  Drainage was funded with a $128,000 STEAP grant and American Rescue plan monies.  Paving is funded through a bond.
  • Beacon Valley Road (West side) - Fall 2021 through Summer 2022
    • Scope:  Drainage and road reconstruction
    • Timeline: Drainage work began in the Fall of 2022 and resumed at the end of March 202.  Guardrail installation is the final step of this process and will be completed by the end of Summer 2022.
    • Funding:  $500,000 STEAP grant, American Rescue plan monies, and Bonded funds.
  • Cracksealing various roads
    • Scope:  Sealing of cracks on the following roads:  Burton Road, Highland Avenue, Kaleis Way, Morningwood, Lantern Ridge, Timber Ridge, Oakwood, Haley's Ridge, North Circle
    • Timeline:  Completed in June 2022
    • Funding:  General Fund Pavement Maintenance
