Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments (NVCOG)
NVCOG provides a regional framework within which municipalities can jointly address common interests, and coordinate such interests with state and federal plans and programs.
Established under Sections 4-124i of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Council of Governments (COG) is a forum for the chief elected officials of the nineteen municipalities located in the planning region. Each member municipality has equal representation on the NVCOG board.
The focus is on planning and implementation for:
Transportation
Economic development
Land use
Brownfields redevelopment
Environment
Emergency preparedness
More information about the operation of the COG can be found in the NVCOG Bylaws on their website.
Here at Beacon Falls we have two great employees from NVCOG:
Molly Johnson
Molly Johnson works as Town Planner for Beacon Falls through her role as a Community Planner for the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments. She provides municipal support services and assists communities in implementing land and water related programs such as Aquifer Protection Areas, Zoning Regulation updates and Plans of Conservation and Development.
Molly has years of experience working for community-based initiatives from Alaska to Minnesota and Fond du Lac Tribal lands, all the way back to Connecticut, where she was born and raised. She holds a Master's degree in Environmental Management from Yale School of Environment and is passionate about approaches that encourage healthy and equitable communities and ecosystems.
