Details:

NVCOG administers a seventeen-town Household Hazardous Waste collection region for residents of Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Bristol, Cheshire, Derby, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oxford, Prospect, Seymour, Southbury, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown, Wolcott and Woodbury.

HHW events give residents the opportunity to properly dispose of hazardous materials that are commonly used in the home including paint, pesticides, household cleaners, poisons, and chemicals. The goal of the program is to keep potentially hazardous waste out of local landfills and sewers, providing extra protection for wetlands and waterways. Three hazardous waste disposal days are held annually.

There is a cap of 50 lbs. or gallons of waste per resident unless arrangements are made in advance. If you think you might exceed this limit, send an email with your name, address, and type of waste to hhw@nvcogct.org by Monday before the collection date.
